HOW TO SUPPORT
SANKOFA VILLAGE ARKANSAS
As of late January 2021, we surpassed our fundraising goal to help purchase land in the historically-Black Granite Mountain neighborhood in Little Rock, AR. Community contributed over $19K! Unfortunately due to appraisal challenges we terminated the purchase agreement in April 2021. As of April 2022, we are refining our legal structures and preparing to connect with potential partners. Follow our journey by subscribing below!
We are not currently fundraising but encourage you to donate to Black-led orgs in your area and/or this fund for BIPOC-led Intentional Communities organized by the Foundation for Intentional Communities.
SVA Community Collaborative
We are in the middle of convening our first Community Collaborative, consisting of diverse group of 4 Black folks living in, or with roots in, Arkansas. The goals of this group are to (1) shape Sankofa Village Arkansas moving forward (2) create a Black-centered space for learning and action (3) empower community members to make sustainable and justice-oriented change.
We are meeting from July-December 2021. The time expectation includes 90-minute meetings twice a month, along with 2-5 hours of prep work. There is a stipend of $50 per meeting to honor members' time and contributions. Check out our "Who We Are" page to read more about the SVA Community Collaborative members!
Sankofa Village Arkansas will be an intentional community centering Black healing, liberation and regeneration.
We envision the physical space in a land trust model that includes tiny homes, a market garden, workshop and shared community spaces with natural areas for plant medicine and native habitat.
